• The Vertical Sky® A50 is designed for an output of 1 MW. With a rotor blade length of 70 meters and a rotor diameter of 50 meters, the turbine reaches a total height of 135 meters.

    Despite this size, the turbine operates especially quietly: the sound pressure level measured at the A6 test unit is below 35 dB at a distance of 25 m. Even lower values are expected for the A50. Its design for wind class III/A enables economical operation even at sites with moderate wind conditions.

    Vertical Sky® operates with three rotor blades that rotate around a vertical axis. The individual blades constantly adjust to the direction of the wind, ensuring they are always optimally aligned with the airflow. This dynamic alignment allows them to maintain consistently high efficiency – no matter which direction the wind is coming from. As a result, wind energy is always converted into electricity as efficiently as possible.

    The rotor blades are controlled in real time by what is known as the pitch drive. This innovation allows the rotor blades to be continuously adjusted to the current wind direction. As a result, the turbine can operate at a comparatively low rotational speed. This feature makes Vertical Sky® particularly quiet while also reducing mechanical wear.

    A test facility that replicates the Vertical Sky® principle on a scaled-down basis is located in Switzerland. Standing 23 meters tall and 6 meters in diameter, this facility has been operating automatically since February 2025. Comprehensive measurement data is collected here, which is directly used to optimize efficiency and performance.

    The test facility thus provides the ideal foundation for further developing the technology under real-world conditions and perfecting it for future use.
