During the safety tests, the turbine was brought up to speed, and initial efficiency calculations could also be carried out.
It can be assumed that with optimal control of the rotor blades, the efficiency can still be increased.
Results and evaluation
Although at the time of the measurements the individual rotor blades were not optimally controlled, an efficiency of already almost 41% could be determined. This observation was made using a conservative error estimate. Considering this, the calculated efficiency shows that the potential of a vertical turbine with pitch control exists.
Based on our calculated pitch curves, it can be assumed that with active control of an optimal pitch curve, the efficiency can be increased even further. Accordingly, the results obtained are already very promising.
